A by-election has been called in Hindley Green.

I'm standing as your candidate in this by-election on Thursday 12th November. This by-election is happening because of the sad passing of Councillor Bob Brierley, who served Hindley Green with such dedication and care.

I have lived in Hindley Green for over 45 years. Like Bob, I was, and still am, extremely passionate about Hindley Green. I want the very best for you and everyone who lives here, many of whom I'm proud to call good friends.

Just the other day, I saw first-hand how good it can be when everyone comes together – when we saw Kevin Sinfield run right through Hindley Green.

My record as your councillor over the last seven years speaks for itself. I've always worked in the community all year round, and I'm never afraid to get my hands dirty. At the same time, I've been a strong voice for Hindley Green and its residents in the Town Hall.

From securing seating at the bus stop on Atherton Road to getting potholes fixed on Thomas Street to delivering £75,000 in funding for flood defences on Carville Grove, I take pride in practical improvements that make a real difference to everyday life.

I've also stood up for you on planning. After I fought for you, Wigan Council changed its approach to planning across the borough, and the South Hindley development has now been shelved for years.

I want to continue the work I've been doing and am doing, so I'm asking you to give me your vote on 12th November and allow me to keep fighting for you and our wonderful home called Hindley Green.

John.
