This is my home, and I want to help make it an even better place to live.\n\nI’m a former police officer and have also worked at Argos. I’ve supported young people as a Duke of Edinburgh leader and Scout leader, helping them build confidence, learn practical skills and enjoy new experiences.\n\nOutside work and community life, I renovate Minis and enjoy rally driving. I love the challenge of getting a car running well and putting it through its paces.\n\nI want to bring my experience and commitment to Cheddleton to the council — listening to residents, challenging decisions when necessary and standing up for our villages.\nMy priorities for Cheddleton\n\n1. Stay ready to oppose a merger with Stoke\n\nThe Government’s plans to merge Staffordshire Moorlands with Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent have been delayed, but they are likely to return. We need to be ready to fight those plans and make sure Cheddleton’s voice is heard.\n\n2. Improve local facilities for our children\n\nOur children and young people need good-quality places to play, meet and enjoy. I want to see investment in local facilities that support families and help young people thrive.\n\n3. Protect our environment and countryside\n\nOur countryside is a huge part of what makes Cheddleton special. We oppose large-scale solar farms and inappropriate development. Future development must respect our villages and be supported by the infrastructure our community needs.","statement_retrieved_at":"2026-11-02T13:33:46+00:00","parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/139560/10eb418a-edd8-4faa-9c6d-6816b892d685.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"Mojoblackwhite","photo_source":"Uploaded driven by a sense of service and helping others fostered while serving 22 years in the RAF as a photographic specialist. I worked on all aspects of millitary photoraphy from intelligece gathering and technical photography to media operations.\n\nI've served in many theatres of operations from Northern Ireland's Operation Banner to taking part in air operations Iraq on Operation Warden, helping to keep the UK safe.\n\nBeing from a military  family its difficult to call somewhere home but Ive certainly found that now settling in the beautiful Moorlands.\n\nIn 2024, after many years as an armchair politician I could see that the country had been on the wrong track for a long time and decided to get involved to bring the change needed and make it so people like me and you can hope again.\n\nI joined Labour because I saw the hard work that our councillors have been doing at SMDC trying to improve our local areas, from delivering an award wining market hall in Leek, taking Cheadle’s market back into public ownership and investing in green energy at Biddulph Leisure centre. In them I saw a group that are ambitious to revive our towns and villages, provide good services and look after the most vulnerable.\n\nI particularly like the Rural Regeneration Fund set up solely by SMDC to help our villages and local businesses through these turbulent times. Our towns only thrive when our villages are productive too.\n\nOutside of Politics and the Labour Party, I was involved with the campaign to save the minor injuries unit at Leek hospital and I’m a trustee with Claire’s Community Pantry, a social supermarket in Cheadle.\n\nAlong with my wife, Liz, we volunteer with Almost Home Dog Rescue fostering dogs in emergency need.  We work to reabilitate damaged, neglected and abused dogs so they can be integrated back into a domestic environment and find the forever home they deserve.\n\nI’m standing because I want to give back to the Staffordshire Moorlands, a place I’m proud to call home and like my predecessor Dylan, protects our green and beautiful home for generations to come.","statement_retrieved_at":"2026-11-02T13:33:50+00:00","parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/139564/3b864dcb-7b12-481c-ba41-cf7a040a69fa.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"Mojoblackwhite","photo_source":"Uploaded by Mojoblackwhite: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Labour Party","colour_hex":"#E4003B","emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP53/52_Emblem_52.gif","official_site_url":"https://labour.org.uk/manifesto/","emblem_description":"Rose with the word Labour underneath","parent_party_ec_id":null}}],"claims":[]}
