My ancestors did not fight and die in WWI & II for the state that the United Kingdom is in at this very moment. I am living proof that being British is not about skin, it is about your values.\n\nTrust: The public’s trust in our political class is completely gone, and rightfully so. I do not want power over anyone - only over myself - and I want the same for others As long as you are not hurting anyone you should be able to live your life how you see fit; with freedom of speech and freedom of religion - I will put my life on the line for these things.\n\nCost of living: First, tackle inflation and bad government by bringing back the gold standard: money printing, fiat currency and fractional reserve banking must go! We must never allow a Central Bank Digital Currency to be foisted upon us. If we go back to money that the establishment cannot control - then we, the people, can prevent corruption and unjust wars. It would be a stepping stone to the greatest peace of our time if we went back to sound money.\n\nAbout me: I am a 25 year old libertarian who attended John Willmott and Bishop Vesey. I have a degree in economics with finance (graduated 2020) from Queen's University Belfast. I have worked many jobs including: financial crime (PwC), labourer, gas tool decontamination worker and postman.\n\nUnlike all too many of our current politicians... I did NOT grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth.\n\nI live in the constituency in which I am standing; my family have lived in the constituency for decades.\n\nI enjoy new challenges and fitness.","statement_retrieved_at":"2026-11-02T13:50:15+00:00","parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/images/84353-ddd379e1-4c81-49c3-a3ca-16f974f89237.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"sjorford","photo_source":"Uploaded by sjorford: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Restore Britain","colour_hex":null,"emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP18382/9308_Emblem_9308.jpg","official_site_url":"https://www.restorebritain.org.uk/","emblem_description":"Restore Britain (Monochrome)","parent_party_ec_id":null}},{"id":4421,"ballot_paper_id":"local.birmingham.shard-end.by.2026-11-26","dc_person_id":134821,"dc_person_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/api/next/people/134821/","name":"Gerald David Dickson","surname_sort":"dickson","party_ec_id":"PP53","party_name_on_ballot":"Labour Party","party_description_on_ballot":"","homepage_url":null,"wikipedia_url":null,"statement_to_voters_present":false,"previous_candidacies_count":1,"is_incumbent":false,"retrieved_at":"2026-10-25T09:59:55.48665+00:00","statement_to_voters":null,"statement_retrieved_at":null,"parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/134821/11be5316-dd80-4dcd-a4bb-6a2760e945d1.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"Mojoblackwhite","photo_source":"Uploaded by Mojoblackwhite: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Labour Party","colour_hex":"#E4003B","emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP53/52_Emblem_52.gif","official_site_url":"https://labour.org.uk/manifesto/","emblem_description":"Rose with the word Labour underneath","parent_party_ec_id":null}},{"id":5149,"ballot_paper_id":"local.birmingham.shard-end.by.2026-11-26","dc_person_id":139606,"dc_person_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/api/next/people/139606/","name":"Farhad Hussain","surname_sort":"hussain","party_ec_id":"PP11382","party_name_on_ballot":"Workers Party of Britain","party_description_on_ballot":"Workers Party","homepage_url":null,"wikipedia_url":null,"statement_to_voters_present":false,"previous_candidacies_count":0,"is_incumbent":false,"retrieved_at":"2026-10-31T11:11:26.834963+00:00","statement_to_voters":null,"statement_retrieved_at":null,"parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":null,"photo_copyright":null,"photo_uploader":null,"photo_source":null,"withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Workers Party of Britain","colour_hex":"#B71C1C","emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP11382/8149_Emblem_8149.png","official_site_url":"https://workerspartybritain.org/","emblem_description":"Emblem 2","parent_party_ec_id":null}},{"id":4796,"ballot_paper_id":"local.birmingham.shard-end.by.2026-11-26","dc_person_id":134506,"dc_person_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/api/next/people/134506/","name":"Sarah Elizabeth Myers","surname_sort":"myers","party_ec_id":"PP7931","party_name_on_ballot":"Reform UK","party_description_on_ballot":"","homepage_url":null,"wikipedia_url":null,"statement_to_voters_present":false,"previous_candidacies_count":1,"is_incumbent":false,"retrieved_at":"2026-10-28T11:39:32.761238+00:00","statement_to_voters":null,"statement_retrieved_at":null,"parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/134506/6d9f0f7b-ac13-4ba1-ab52-153c123dc5f1.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"Peter42","photo_source":"Uploaded by Peter42: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Reform UK","colour_hex":"#12B6CF","emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP7931/7762_Emblem_7762.jpg","official_site_url":"https://www.reformparty.uk/","emblem_description":"Emblem 1","parent_party_ec_id":null}},{"id":4422,"ballot_paper_id":"local.birmingham.shard-end.by.2026-11-26","dc_person_id":128374,"dc_person_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/api/next/people/128374/","name":"Duncan Riley","surname_sort":"riley","party_ec_id":"ynmp-party:2","party_name_on_ballot":"Independent","party_description_on_ballot":"","homepage_url":null,"wikipedia_url":null,"statement_to_voters_present":true,"previous_candidacies_count":1,"is_incumbent":false,"retrieved_at":"2026-10-25T09:59:55.48665+00:00","statement_to_voters":"Shard End deserves a strong, independent voice. Someone who will listen to residents, stand up for the community and focus on getting things done rather than playing party politics.\n\nEarlier this year, I worked hard in Bromford and Hodge Hill, listening to residents, raising local concerns and fighting for a better future for our communities. That experience has taught me a great deal about the challenges facing our area.\n\nAnd if that is what I have been able to do working in a neighbouring ward, just imagine the real work I could do as your councillor in Shard End!\n\nMy plans for Shard End include:\n- Tackling fly-tipping — pushing for cleaner streets, faster action on dumped rubbish and greater accountability.\n- Stronger community safety — building closer links between residents, the local police and the council to tackle antisocial behaviour and crime.\n- Protecting our neighbourhoods — demanding proper accountability over housing standards, HMOs and the issues that affect the quality of life of local residents.\n- Supporting local businesses and charities — championing our independent shops, traders, community groups and the people who help keep Shard End thriving.\n- Standing up for elderly and disabled residents — making sure people who need support are heard, respected and not forgotten.\n- Cleaner, safer public spaces — pressing for improvements to roads, pavements, green spaces and the places our families use every day.\n- A brighter future for Shard End — encouraging investment, supporting local opportunities and helping make our community somewhere people are proud to live, work and raise their families.\n\nI want to be a councillor who is visible, approachable and accountable. Someone residents can contact, someone who will challenge the council when things are not good enough, and someone who remembers that the job is about serving people — not serving a political party.\n\nI’m standing as an Independent because Shard End must always come before party politics.\n\nThis campaign is about our community, our future and giving residents a genuine choice.\n\nOn 26 November, I’m asking for your support to help build a stronger, safer and more prosperous Shard End.","statement_retrieved_at":"2026-11-02T13:50:19+00:00","parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/128374/e94e45d7-6835-470d-b304-e2e5df207a34.png","photo_copyright":"copyright-assigned","photo_uploader":"DuncanRilz","photo_source":"Uploaded by DuncanRilz: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Independent","colour_hex":null,"emblem_url":null,"official_site_url":null,"emblem_description":null,"parent_party_ec_id":null}},{"id":5152,"ballot_paper_id":"local.birmingham.shard-end.by.2026-11-26","dc_person_id":10045,"dc_person_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/api/next/people/10045/","name":"Clifton Frederick Welch","surname_sort":"welch","party_ec_id":"PP52","party_name_on_ballot":"Conservative and Unionist Party","party_description_on_ballot":"Local Conservatives","homepage_url":null,"wikipedia_url":null,"statement_to_voters_present":false,"previous_candidacies_count":5,"is_incumbent":false,"retrieved_at":"2026-10-31T11:11:26.834963+00:00","statement_to_voters":null,"statement_retrieved_at":null,"parliament_member_id":null,"parliament_match_note":null,"photo_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/images/people/10045/3962c8bd-1b0d-4736-a96f-1c135200c227.png","photo_copyright":"profile-photo","photo_uploader":"maj","photo_source":"Uploaded by maj: Approved from photo moderation queue","withdrawn_at":null,"parties":{"name":"Conservative and Unionist Party","colour_hex":"#0087DC","emblem_url":"https://candidates.democracyclub.org.uk/media/emblems/PP52/7730_Emblem_7730.jpg","official_site_url":"https://www.conservatives.com/","emblem_description":"Emblem 1 Conservatives English logo","parent_party_ec_id":null}}],"claims":[]}
